A step-by-step guide to doing an Automated Interview

So you're probably gearing up for an automated interview on Cammio. First off, congrats on getting this far! 🎉 Automated interviews can sound a bit daunting at first, but don't worry—we've got your back. This step-by-step guide will walk you through everything you need to know and do, so you can ace your interview like a pro. Let's dive in!

Before you start

Prepare as you would for any interview

Approach an automated interview with the same seriousness and preparation as you would any other interview. Get to know the company you’re applying to. Understand its culture, values, and recent achievements. This will not only help you answer questions more effectively but also show your interest and fit for the role. Practice answering common interview questions, but also think about how you can connect your experiences to the specific role you’re applying for.

Check the deadline

Automated interviews come with a deadline. Ensure you know when this is and plan to complete your interview well before it. Giving yourself this buffer reduces stress and allows you to perform at your best.

Check your tech

Make sure your device (laptop/desktop/tablet/smartphone) is charged and ready to go. You'll need a camera, microphone, and an internet connection to participate.
Ensure your internet connection is stable.
Close any unnecessary applications to keep your device running smoothly.
Use a modern web browser (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge)

Setting the stage

Dress the part: Even though it's a video interview, dress as you would for an in-person one. It shows you’re taking this opportunity seriously and also gives you an extra boost of confidence.
Find your perfect spot: Choose a quiet, well-lit place for your interview. You want to be seen and heard clearly, without distractions. A plain background or a tidy room is ideal.

Practice makes perfect

Take advantage of Cammio's practice interview to familiarize yourself with the format and test your equipment. Plus, practicing your answers out loud is a golden tip for any interview.

Time for your interview

You'll receive an invitation: Look out for an email with all the details and a link to your automated interview. Simply click on the link to get started.
Read through the instructions: Each interview can be a little different. Take a moment to carefully read through any instructions or guidelines provided. Knowing what to expect will help you feel more prepared and less stressed.
Consent and disclaimer: You may be prompted to give consent via a disclaimer before starting your interview. This step is essential for privacy and recording agreements, so make sure you read it carefully and understand what you're agreeing to.
Get ready: Before diving into the questions, you'll be asked to test your camera and microphone to ensure everything's working smoothly.
Answer with confidence: Questions will appear one at a time, with details on screen about the time you have and the number of attempts allowed for recording your answer. Take a moment to gather your thoughts, then speak clearly and confidently. Remember, there’s no one on the other side judging you in real-time, so take your time and do your best. 💪 After you’ve answered your last question, you’ll submit your interview.
Provide feedback: At the end of the interview process, you’ll have the opportunity to fill out an open feedback field. This is your chance to let us know what you thought of the experience. Please note that this feedback is used solely by Cammio to improve our interview tooling. It will not affect your interview process or outcome in any way.

Relax and wait for feedback: Now, the ball is in their court. Take this time to relax and give yourself a pat on the back for completing the interview. Keep an eye on your email for feedback or next steps from the company.

Feeling a bit nervous? That's perfectly normal. Remember, automated interviews are a unique opportunity to showcase your skills and personality. Believe in yourself, and everything will go smoothly. Good luck—you've got this! 🚀
