How to Safely Edit an Active Interview Setup

To protect the fairness of your evaluation process and prevent accidental data loss, Cammio automatically locks the Build tab of any automated interview the exact moment you invite your first candidate. You will see a banner at the top of the screen stating: "This template is already collecting responses."

Here are the two ways you can safely make changes to your workflow.

The safest and most common way to change an active interview is to simply copy it. This ensures all your previous candidates are evaluated against the exact same criteria, while new candidates get your updated flow.

  1. Go to Templates in the left sidebar.
  2. Find the template you want to change.
  3. Open the More actions menu (...).
  4. Click Duplicate.

OR

  1. Go to the locked Build tab of your active template.
  2. Click the Edit this template button located in the top warning banner.
  3. In the warning modal that appears, select the Duplicate template instead option.

This instantly creates a brand-new, unlocked copy of your setup. You can now make your changes and start inviting new candidates to this updated version!

Tip: If you work with high-volume hiring: duplicating keeps your data clean (v1 vs v2), and it's much easier to explain internally why results differ.

Method 2: Directly Edit the Active Setup

Sometimes you truly need to edit the live setup (e.g., a broken link, a compliance fix, a serious typo). If you must edit the active one, keep it minimal.

Warning: Editing an active template changes the experience for any future candidates who complete it. This means they will have a slightly different interview setup than your previous candidates, which can impact the standardization of your evaluation.

  1. Go to the locked Build tab and click Edit this template.
  2. In the warning modal, select I'll proceed with caution.
  3. The lock is now temporarily removed for your current browsing session. Make your necessary edits to the timeline.
  4. Unlike a brand-new template, your changes will not auto-save! You will see a "You have unsaved changes" warning in the left sidebar.
  5. Click Publish changes to apply updates for future use.

Decision guide: Duplicate vs Edit directly

Use this as a quick rule of thumb:

You should...

If...

Duplicate

You're changing questions, timing, attempts, answer types, or anything evaluation-related You want clean reporting across a campaign ("v1 vs v2")

Edit directly

You're fixing a typo, contact info, or a small clarity issue You have a compliance/legal fix and can't pause invites
