Understanding Anti-Bias Reviewing

At Cammio, we believe that the best hiring decisions are made when every team member brings their unique, unfiltered perspective to the table. In fast-paced, high-volume hiring environments, it is easy to accidentally rely on the opinions of others. To help your team make fair, objective, and data-driven decisions, Cammio has built-in Anti-Bias features designed specifically to prevent "groupthink" and anchoring bias during the evaluation process.

The Power of Independent Evaluation

When multiple Hiring Managers, reviewers or other team members are assigned to evaluate a single candidate, Cammio automatically enforces an independent review process.

Here is how the system protects the integrity of your feedback:

  1. Scores are Hidden by Default: When you open a candidate's Interview Analysis Page, the All Reviews section is intentionally blurred. You will not be able to see the star ratings or written comments left by your colleagues.
  2. Focus on the Candidate: This ensures that your evaluation is based entirely on the candidate's video responses and the specific review instructions provided, rather than being influenced by a senior colleague's prior rating.
  3. The Reveal: The moment you click Submit on your own review, the system instantly unlocks the feedback from the rest of your team.

By evaluating independently first and collaborating second, your team can identify true consensus and have more meaningful discussions about a candidate's potential.

Show Hidden Reviews (Override the Anti-Bias Block)

We understand that platform Admins and Recruiters often need to view the team's feedback to manage the pipeline and make quick hiring decisions without submitting a formal evaluation themselves. Additionally, depending on your organization's specific account settings, Reviewers (Hiring Managers) may also be granted permission to bypass this block.

If you have the necessary permissions, you can reveal the scores at any time:

  1. Go to the Reviews tab on the candidate's Interview Analysis Page.
  2. Look for the toggle labeled See reviews anyway? located near the hidden review section.
  3. Switch the toggle On to instantly reveal all submitted scores and comments from your assigned team members.

Note for Reviewers: If your account has granted you access to this override, we still strongly encourage you to submit your independent review before viewing the team's feedback to ensure the fairest evaluation possible.

Best Practices for Fair Reviewing

Alongside Cammio's hidden reviews feature, here are three quick tips to keep your evaluations objective:

  • Stick to the Instructions: Always base your score on the specific Review Instructions provided by the recruiting team at the top of the review tab.
  • Leave Contextual Comments: A 3-star rating is much more helpful to your recruitment team when accompanied by a short note explaining why you chose that score.
  • Avoid "Production Quality" Bias: Try not to penalize candidates for weak lighting or camera quality, background noise, speaking style (quiet/introverted), or non-native language fluency (unless the role requires it).
